Eric Nielson

By: Eric Nielson

I grew up in Rexburg Idaho.  I am the oldest of six children, and was born of good parents.  I was spoon-fed the gospel from my youth in a family with a garden, food storage, family prayer, scripture reading, family home evening, regular church attendance, home teachers, the whole thing.

I have never seriously doubted any aspect of the gospel of Jesus Christ, nor The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  I have always believed in God, and felt much like Alma - that all things denote there is a God.  My belief in Christ as the Savior took more effort.  Some of my most spiritual religious experiences have come through the repentance process.  And it is because of these experiences that I feel I can say that I know that Jesus is the Christ.  I have a hard time understanding how someone can sincerely read the Book of Mormon and not consider it to be scripture.  These things serve as anchors to my testimony.

I was priveleged to serve a mission for the church to the Georgia Atlanta Mission.  I served during the mid 80's and enjoyed my mission very much.  My wife and I met at Ricks College and were married in the Denver Temple.  We have four boys.

I have served in many local church callings including Cub Master, Elder's Quorum Insturctor, Young Men's President, Primary Teacher, Ward Mission Leader, Elder's Quorum President, and currently serve as Teacher's Quorum Advisor.

I earned Bachellor and Master of Science Degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Idaho.  I work as a Mechanical Engineer at a machine design and build company in southern Michigan.

I am a fan of most common American sports, and watch, talk about, read about, and participate in sports as often as I can get away with.  I am also a Rush fan.

Some of my favorite church leaders are BH Roberts, John Widtsoe, and James Talmage.

I hope this helps you see where I am coming from.  I have a solo blog called 'Small and Simple'.
